In a dramatic breakthrough, all Israeli teenagers accused of raping a British woman in Cyprus nearly two weeks ago will be released from police custody and return home to Israel on Sunday.

Just a reminder that only 4% of rape allegations are proven to be false by the police according to a Home Office research study.\1])

I wanted to post this because as with any high-profile rape investigation in the media, if the allegations are proven to be false many overestimate this number to portray a narrative. This is an extremely rare case and I am shocked if she did fabricate these claims. I can't blame anyone for presuming she was telling the truth from the sheer scale of this case, it's truly chilling to hear that this may have been completely false. I hate seeing these as it detracts the validity of victim's suffering and simply assists in silencing them. It is also awful for the men who had to endure this. False accusations are truly the worst, I'm thankful they are so rare.
