eBay: "A buyer can return you a brick and you will still have to refund them via the returns system"

Sadly, this looks to be the case. eBay just wants to copy Amazon with everything they do and since Amazon is out there providing refunds on everything, eBay is making it's sellers do so too. But Amazon will actually PAY for the refunds themselves. eBay makes US, the sellers, pay for it.

I just got back a floor rug yesterday that the customer wanted to return since it wasn't good quality and wasn't 'thick enough.' I've sold 20 of the same rug and have only gotten great reviews from them. But customer wanted to return it. So they started a case, got their return shipping paid for by me, automatically through eBay. And then after the item was returned, they automatically got a full refund.

So now I have the item, which I paid for. The original shipping that I paid for. And the return shipping that I paid for. All a loss at this point. Luckily it's an officially licensed Denver Broncos themed floor rug and I should be able to sell it again or put it on Craigslist or a local Facebook group, but jesus christ eBay. What the fuck are you doing?

We just had an instance at my work where a customer returned some bar stools. They lied about everything. They lied about how they were received. They got replacements and they didn't like them and since they had an open case for the stools after receiving them and claiming it wasn't as described, all they had to do was escalate the case and boom. Automatic full refund and return. We get the item back and even though the customer lied and it can be proven in the emails, eBay didn't give a fuck. They said they can't do anything and that they will have to refund in full and charge us for the return shipping.

I have no other platform to sell my items on right now. Otherwise I would do a charge back with my credit card for my entire monthly invoice. I'm tired of this shit. I have 100% perfect feedback and great compliments and reviews from my customers. I've been a great example for what an eBay seller should be.

And all eBay wants to do is make me stop selling on eBay. I've spent hours working on listings that are perfect and are variation listings so that they don't clutter up the search results. I've got a clear picture and description of every item. And yet a customer comes along and says they don't like the item. Nothing is wrong with it, they just don't like it. And now I have to pay the return shipping costs and am at a loss for the money invested into the original shipping and the product.

What the fuck are you doing eBay?
