Employee Appreciate Day

I worked in private and there was no such thing as this day, and no mention of it.

As a state worker, you get a cost of living increase in June most years and when there’s room in your salary range a 5%bump. That along with unheard vacation and 12 holidays. Oh and insurance that is the best for the whole family.

Can private give bonuses and more than 5% increases, sure. But it’s mostly dependent on their mood. Let’s be real and acknowledge that we didn’t become state workers for these made up holidays. I agree that my paycheck and peace of mind of stability …. oh and a pension are way more rewarding than my manager patting me on the back forcefully because the calendar told them to.
