Epileptic boy 'in life-threatening state' after cannabis oil seized; Billy Caldwell, the 12-year-old boy who had his anti-epileptic medicine confiscated by the Home Office this week, has been admitted to hospital, with his mother saying his condition is life-threatening.

Ruth Bader-Ginsburg made an almost identical analogy in her dissent of the 2013 that struck down significant components of the 1965 Voting Rights Act which were put in place to stop states (esp certain southern states) from taking targeted actions to suppress the voting rights and accessibility of black Americans. US republicans of course took immediate occasion to do exactly the sort of things the VRA was established and enforced to prevent, after gaslighting everyone with the same "we won't need these laws cuz these things don't happen anymore" pleas, some even having the gall to portray those southern states as the true victims of discrimination in this case.

The relevant RBG quote: “Throwing out preclearance when it has worked and is continuing to work to stop discriminatory changes is like throwing away your umbrella in a rainstorm because you are not getting wet.”
