ESEA Security Survey

This is not really a good answer.

  • First things first :

you still store digital identities that players go by and before you say it is as meaningless as knowing what pawn I use in Monopoly, you should remember that having access to one's account allows you to play using said account.

So what prevents me from getting a pro's information, and ruining his reputation by playing with hacks and getting him banned?

What prevents any cheating player from saying that his account got hacked beacause of ESEA's notoriously bad security and that he actually never cheated?

  • Furthermore :

How professionnal do you think this organisation looks when you go out and say :

"We don't need protection, people should know better and not store any personal information or use the same password as other services on ESEA."

The thing is most people actually don't know any better and i don't think you are gaining anything out of having such an elitist policy.

The only way I could see this as being kind of okay is if you had a very visible disclaimer mentioning the fact that you chose not to secure your site to a decent standard and that any information including passwords that users store on there is basically public information. Yet, it still doesn't seem very processionnal does it?

So basically it all comes down to honesty. I know your job as a community manager is more about doing "damage control" than actually fixing things but I can't believe you would choose such a ridiculous communication strategy.

  • To conclude :

There is simply no excuse for not having basic security procedures on a website that holds such a big community in 2015. You know it, people know it, everybody knows it.

So please, stop insulting this community's intelligence, admit you are wrong, admit this is a mistake, fix it (not that it would be that hard tbf) and people will forgive you just like they have in the past.

ESEA's service was always great, there is nothing for you to loose in this if you just do what is right. Please make it easy for us to love you.

TL ; DR : Don't be stubborn kids, be what you advertise you are : professionnals.

PS : Excuse my english, I'm just a french kid on the internet.
