There was this whole string of women who got doxxed and harassed because they had the misfortune of having opinions about video games like ten years ago. Seeing that play out was traumatic for me. So many people getting so violently heated about a stranger's personal opinion about something so petty. It made me very guarded about sharing my specific beliefs and opinions with men until I know them enough to feel safe with them.
