CPS is too busy with court cases, and there is a shortage in the field - all around.

I reported my best friend when I couldn't convince her it was not OK to hit (and scream horrible things to) her 15 year old developmentally disabled son.

She sent me pictures of her hand bruised from hurting him which I then gave to CPS with a text message. I even pulled in a mental health worker to make a report. He was my godson.

He slit his wrists two months later after no history of self harm and no diagnosis of depression... out of the blue. CPS had never followed up. I was so livid; pure rage. They never took her 1 year old baby away, either.

The system is fucked. You cannot count on it. Just take personal action if you see abuse.
