He was speaking at a school in a nearby district today. I was not there but I heard he talked about eliminating standardized testing.

As a teacher I have yet to meet another colleague who is in favor of standardized testing.

Standardized testing does not give students a well rounded education.

For example, geography is not test in elementary school so all the focus is on tested subjects. Now I have high school students who seriously do not realize the difference between Washington DC and Washington the state.

If you your students do not preform well on these test you now need to find another job, so of course teachers will teach to the test. (We hate that by the way)
