This game made me realize why games left server browsers

The benefits of a server with known community members, predictable administration, and known culture habits and customs completely outweighs the tiny benefits associated with waiting a few less minutes to get playing. Letting players cultivate and care about their reputation within a community provides an intrinsic incentive not to be a shithead that is totally absent from games where you can be almost completely certain that you will never cross paths with anyone on the server ever again.

One of the things that finally nailed PR's coffin shut were a series of server stability problems that destroyed the willingness (and even ability) of players to seed their favorite servers because they knew at any second it was all going to come tumbling down and they weren't going to get to finish the round.
