Georgia House of Representative to vote today (3/16) on SB140 bill to limit treatment for transgender youth

Hi I’m a perfectly healthy, not suicidal trans woman with a well paying job. You would never know if you interacted with me and it’s none of your business, but anyways.

I have only known one person that transitioned who I felt shouldn’t have - it started out as their girlfriend’s fetish and she transitioned for it. She’s incredibly depressed but always has been. She was before transition and still is now.

I also knew someone that got a botched surgery overseas because she couldn’t get surgery over here due to the incredibly strict requirements, high cost, and no insurance coverage. She got a botched surgery and ended up killing herself because nobody could fix her unbearable pain.

This is anecdotal obviously, but generally speaking acceptance helps reduce depression. Passing laws painting it as more of a mental illness that it really is just serves to increase suicide rates and changes of people being clinically depressed, severally anxious, or developing other disorders.

Veterans have some of the highest rates of suicide and very commonly develop mental disorders. Maybe we should stop recruiting for our military? Or maybe we can focus our government on real issues that actually matter?
