I hear ya. It’s crazy. I work in a pretty competitive industry, for a company that encourages a pretty competitive environment. In order to get promoted, you should be performing at the level above the role you are in. And if you’re not working toward getting promoted, you’re “coasting” and “why are you even here”... so basically, my company expects everyone to always be performing at a role higher than the one they were hired for. Being a competitive industry, there’s always the unspoken threat that someone is coming up behind you and will gladly take your job and probably do it better.

Yeah, I’m tired, and I’m actively building my exit plan.
