Getting over my irrational fear of watching a specific movie.

Okay, so I have a similar issue with a different movie, for different reasons. My problematic movie is the original Star Wars trilogy, specifically Return of the Jedi. My Nmom had zero boundaries, especially about sex, and told me Star Wars themed bedtime stories that honestly would fit in better with Letters To Penthouse.

Thanks to the new movie coming out, I'm getting a high dose of exposure therapy, especially on Facebook. Those films are such a huge part of American geek culture, they're pretty much unavoidable.

I will say that exposure did reduce the initial panic and distress symptoms. I can now scroll by a picture of slave leia and not feel sick to my stomach.

If you want to watch Chucky, go for it. Maybe it will help. I would start by getting used to looking at pictures, specifically the video cover that first scared you. Then maybe look up clips on youtube. Then maybe see if anyone does Chucky cosplay, because that's another way to desensitize yourself....it's harder to be scared of someone having a blast in their fandom. Basically, ease yourself into it. Watch some behind the scenes or making of things, if they exist for that movie series. The harder you stare at the wizard behind the curtain, the less power it has over you.

However, I would not do it drunk or on xanax. Xanax will numb you too much to make the exposure as therapeutic as it could be. Booze brings up too much emotions. I'd try smoking a small amount of indica, if you partake of that, and are of adult age. You want to be in a mindstate where you have access to your emotions, but are able to see your reactions from an objective as possible viewpoint.

You can do it! Like another person suggested, have some feel-good, happy stuff lined up to watch after.
