Guests: do you appreciate/need a "House Manual"

I have a couple Airbnb's that I am a multiple repeat customer at year over year, but booked at a new place this weekend. I just bailed on a place almost as soon as I got there (strict no refund policy, which I knew was a risk) that had a 12 page house manual, enormous chore list, rules galore, and was extremely sensitive to noise even though the place was listed as entire apartment and gave no impression that noise was an issue (other than ''no parties'').

My favourite, repeat-bookings have short, two-page FAQs with chores proportionate to the cleaning fee. I tend to avoid places with overly-complicated house manuals and extensive expectations beyond the typical ''respect hosts and other guests''. I am on vacation after all.
