r/AirBnB has turned into nothing more than a complaint board

I recently used Airbnb and each time I logged in I noticed I had to change my location to the United States each time from the drop down list, which I found a little odd. Why was the default location Canada I wondered? My account lists me as living in the US, and my currency is set to USD. The place we stayed is in the US and in the same state we live in. Yet afterwards a charge of $3.50 showed up on my credit card for a Foreign Conversion Fee. Then I noticed on my Airbnb receipt, accessed through my account online, I was charged in CAD (Canadian Dollars). Something was wrong on their end. Has this happened to anyone? (Airbnb told me they couldn't refund the conversion fee since it was "mandatory," but that they can give me a credit for the "inconvenience.)
