That kind of argument will be quickly err... shot down, as it should be.

You cannot guarantee gun removal equally across the board, so you're always at risk of the bad guys having guns when yours has been taken away. 'Complete' firearm abolishment just means your cops are helpless against armed criminals.

What you want to look at is the number of guns you could get out of the hands of unstable people (with relevant mental health issues or a history of violence), and laws regarding safe storage, transport, and operation of firearms along with strict enforcement.

Responsible gun owners shouldn't be punished because there are dangerous people out there. There's nothing wrong with going to the range or even anything necessarily wrong about hunting game.
