Last year some guy I used to party with and had recently crossed paths with again (because he started seeing a friend of mine) hit me up at like 2 in the morning wanting to drink. I ignored him. In the morning I had a bunch of texts about how he wanted company because he had just found out he was terminally ill and he’d started hitting up everyone he knew just to see if SOMEONE would come hang out. I felt awful for him but had to explain that I couldn’t get up and go drink with him in the middle of the night. I am quite certain there was no sexual intention in him calling me, and I didn’t tell my boyfriend about this because there was nothing to tell: someone had different boundaries than I do, I stuck with my boundaries, and that’s that. If I’d gone out of my way to over-explain, my boyfriend probably would’ve thought I was being defensive and trying to get in front of something that really WAS a lie or deception.
