Gym Story Saturday

For the first time in about as long as I can remember, was affected by someone frivolously holding up a power rack. This was Wednesday, and my big compound for the day was squats.

My gym has the power rack and smith machine side by side at the end of one room, rack on the left and smith machine on the right. Two guys and one woman all seemed to be there together using them when I walked in. I stood there for a second assessing the situation:

One of the guys had an adjustable bench in the smith machine doing incline bench. Fair enough.

The woman and other guy were standing around the rack. It had 225lbs loaded on the bar with clips. They had put a flat bench to the left of the power rack, and the woman started up a set of weighted hip thrusts. The rack is fairly close to the wall, so she's doing these hip thrusts and her legs and lower body are inside the rack. Weird choice on where to do the hip thrusts, but whatever.

So I ask how many sets they have left with the rack and the guy tells me two more sets. He then switches out with the other guy doing incline bench in the smith machine and I'm waiting. So I sit and wait for 20 minutes while she does 4 more sets of hip thrusts, and none of the three ever touch the barbell in the rack at any point.
