Halsey - Manic

This album releasing the week after Selena’s just highlights the stark difference in artistry between these two artists. Yes, this album is still a pop album through and through, but you can just tell that THIS is Halsey and no one else could have sung these songs instead of the artist herself. Rare just pales in comparison and next to albums like this, it is so clear that Selena has no distinct sound or interesting artistic persona (yet). Halsey has a sound, an image, a vision, and this album executes that so well. That final song is just such a gut-puncher for example, and the whole album just oozes raw emotion and conveys Halsey’s artistic message to the world so well imo. I’m actually really proud of her for overcoming her “cringe” status and delivering such a mature and well-crafted album. She’s definitely grown so much as an artist.
