I think that highland cows are better looking than other cows, opinions?

Funny. You are so into kindness yet you call me disgusting and condemn me for thinking differently.

Haha, trust me there is no equivalency between calling someone disgusting and slicing someone's throat open.

We can’t all slaughter our own cattle or afford the fancy happy cow meat. ( which I am all for) .

There is no fancy happy cow meat. It doesn't matter how you raise a cow, if you intend to stick a knife in its throat when it is still just a baby, there isn't enough "organic grass-fed" stickers in the world to cover up the moral atrocity involved.

You make so many good points and I think of them all. But between dealing with my anxiety and depression, trying to find a job and fighting the urge to cry every day I have to pick my battles.

Your anxiety and depression is because the world is fucked, and the meat industry is all part of that. It's one of the biggest reasons the world is fucked - because it's only possible through the rampant capitalist that's responsible for the state of the jobs market, and through the insane production of greenhouse gases, deforestation, that's got us all living on borrowed time here.

You were honest so I will be too. I may eat meat and that might make me a hypocrite. But at least I don’t judge people and shame them for believing differently.

If we don't judge people then anything is permissible, and if anything is permissible we end up living in a fucking hell hole. Remember, I used to eat meat too, and the whole time I also knew that I was a hypocrite. If I didn't "judge" myself for that, then I would never have eventually made the change that I ultimately did. You already acknowledge that you are a hypocrite, so it doesn't matter how other people judge you - you have already judged yourself, you're just refusing to follow through on what you truly believe.

You weaken your ideas with judgement.

A good solid idea can't be weakened because of the attitudes of the people that accept that idea. Isaac Newton was as bit of a cunt, and yet his ideas were so solid that everyone still knows who he is 400 years later, and his ideas have taken humanity to the moon and back.

The truth is that when you want to bury you head in the sand because of an idea that makes you uncomfortable, it's very convenient to just pretend that the guy who said that idea was so much of a dick that you are permitted to ignore everything he said and go back to conveniently doing whatever you were doing. There's no logic to that. Either an idea is a good idea or it's not - it shouldn't matter whether you came across it in a beautiful poem, or was written in graffiti on the side of a bus.
