Hindu Nationalists Are Boycotting Amazon For Signing Up An Actress Who Spoke Out Against Child Rape

Along the same lines, so much of this stereotype is just an exposure bias. Honestly, who thinks that India's problems with rape/misogyny are on a level beyond any of their neighbouring countries of comparable economic status? Pakistan? Bangladesh? Afghanistan? Is the narrative that Indian culture/men are exceptionally inclined to rape women?

It always seemed to me that you hear about the issue so much because enough educated Indians actually acknowledge the problem and bring it to the public interest. The first step to treating a festering wound is to take a look at the damn thing.

I guess what we're observing now is people pointing and staring at the pus. I say fine, let them gawk and make disparaging comments. It's still our fault for letting the wound get this putrid. But anyone who thinks that just because India's wounds are visible, that they're somehow especially diseased isn't looking carefully enough.
