Holding society together

It's weird being from a rural state I didn't have a concept of people looking down at service jobs or any job really. After moving to Seattle and getting a job as a Janitor working at various private and charter schools I was really shocked at how many teachers and Admins look down upon us. I'm the only white guy and I've heard rumors they couldn't find another company thats as cheap and preforms as well so they had to up pay and treat them better. They never say anything bad but you can tell in their voice or how they talk to you. The complaints over insanely mild things or being annoyed at giving us hours during this coronavirus thing. The weird thing is I'm not sure if I would be completely far off from the teachers pay if I became a bricklayer, not to mention equity I can build in real estate. Or if I really went at it starting a business or really tried to go for 6 figure jobs. They assume I'm retarded but in reality I like it because I listen to music/podcast and don't have to deal with people (except for the first two hours).
