Hollande: "The veiled woman of today will be the Marianne of tomorrow. She will take off her veil and become a French. She'll be capable to carry on an ideal. She'll choose freedom rather than enslavement. She won't need to hide behind a veil to trust in her society."

Reality is more complicated than left vs right. For example, veils can be cultural and i'm positive there are woman who would choose to wear it without being tricked or oppressed. It's arrogant to believe people wouldn't be proud of their heritage and choose to keep their traditions. (http://imgur.com/a/D4wjh).

And then there are other garments that are clearly oppressive (http://imgur.com/a/2fyWz).

It's only oppressive when you are forced to do something and you lose your choice.

Anyway The situation is more complicated and both sides have their legitimate points and wishful thinking. The left will rip into Christianity, but will give Islam a pass. Even though Islam is more fundamentalist and stands in direct contrast of many western ideals.

The right forgets that Muslims are people. It's not like Syrian's want to leave their home and go to a strange land where they feel unwelcome. They left because we purposely destabilized their region.

The truth is somewhere in the middle.
