Did you play it off, or was there a moment where you just fessed up to your waitress? Based on some of the responses on this thread, I'm guessing the staff there encounters people like your situation more than once in a while. Do the two sides you and servers just feel each other out (so to speak) and just drop the act and act like a normal table/waitress situation as the night draws on, or how does it work?

Like, could a server could go, "oh, crap" and realize what's happened, and just relate to you normally from there? Could they at least wink-and-nod acknowledge the underlying awkward humor in the situation? I'm just never sure whether I should treat places like that as mean pimps or good harmless fun, or where in between I should fall.
