How do I become strong enough to stand for extended periods of time?

I started lifting a year ago going in cold without having done any form of exercise for over a decade. To help me, I asked a buddy of mine that once invited me to train with him and I finally took the plunge and asked him if his offer was still up.

I was lucky in a sense that my buddy helped me for 2 months by teaching me the basics and made sure my foundation was solid. I started with a 3 day program, slowly built up to a 4 day program and now I'm doing a 5 day lift program. I'm able to hit the gym in full confidence using a plan that I found on the side bar and if I haven't done a particular workout before, I'll just quickly google the workout and make sure I follow the video guides and images I can find.

If you don't have any friends who are willing, definitely ask a trainer if you can afford one and at least try it out for a month. Start building that foundation, you might end up liking it like I did.
