How does anyone afford anything?

Maybe look into a budget? My fiance and I make about $160k combined and we bought a very nice $240k house (at least by my standards) last year. We are about a 10 minute drive from anything significant, but it's hardly the boonies. We're (thankfully) not even close to struggling financially, in fact were putting most of our income into savings.

Are you looking beyond your means when it comes to homes, or have you not saved up a decent down payment? We didn't immediately jump to getting a home when we finally got decent paying jobs because we wanted to save first.

With what you're making you shouldn't be struggling too hard to make ends meet, especially without kids. There's a financial advice subreddit, that might be good to check out.
