idk.... I still have yet to see people that don't understand music theory use locrian scales or diminished chords properly. I've definitely never seen a person that didn't understand music theory use a suspension and resolve it either. Anyone can hear the major scale, but most people don't even know about the 3 forms of the minor scale, much less being able to hear them actually use them.

Most people's beats that don't use music theory sound boring, repetitive and generic af. I'm not saying theory is everything, but it's definitely one peice of the music production puzzle. Saying you don't need theory is like saying you don't need to know how to mix and master, sure you can definitely produce without the skills, but it never hurts to learn more.
