How To Extract Forskolin?

Yes, considering that most are 20% or less forskolin, $46 per 250g of 10% (in your own example) is pretty expensive per actual gram of forskolin. $45 per 2.5g of forskolin isnt cheap especially considering that a rather large amount is needed to produce a noticeable effect in humans. A lab shouldnt be nessesary for this. worst case I can see is needing a distillation or fractional precipitation set up which I have improvised before. As for purity, the plant itself is considered non-toxic (hence, it's frequently used medicinally and as a toilet paper in rural areas). if the plant lacks the compounds to harm me and I make no chemical change then there should not be any poison or hazard in the end product. correct? no poison in-> no poison out, given no reaction occurs. I am going to use a lot of this for a long time and so the costs add up quickly. its almost always cheaper long term to do something yourself than to pay someone else to. I have an HPLC set up and am trained in other analysis techniques. it is an extraction, not a synthesis. it should be very straight forward, I just am looking for advice on specifically how to do it. the crude steps nessesary are to break up the plant material (a blender should suffice) then use a solvent or two to extract which forskolin is soluble to remove the compounds which are dramatically different ie polar vs non polar. next I would think you could titrate through a range of pH's and only save the precipitate at the pH that forskolin preciptates out at. that is not too terribly complicated is it? a helpful answer would be something like what solvents to use or better yet, answer my original question about a good or better way to extract it. rather than offering criticism of my idea I would really appreciate it if you would try to be helpful.
