How much do you and your spouse each make, contribute to the household, and are you happy about it?

My husband and I are modern Orthodox Jews. We got married right out of college and have completely combined finances.

That being said, I don’t plan to work forever so we make sure our monthly expenses can be covered by his salary ($115,000). My salary ($100,000) is used for savings, travel and investments. He also receives about ~$35,000 in RSUs annually that goes straight into savings and we both have the potential for $10,000 end of year bonuses.

At some point, he made 80k and I made nothing and we still had combined finances. That remained true when I made 40k and he made 82k and still remains true with a household income of 250k.

Because both of us have incredible benefits, we individually max out our 401ks and he maxes out his HSA. I automatically deposit part of my paycheck into an account that is auto invested in Total Stock Market Index Funds.

Basically, he makes 150k, I make 100k and we work together to save and invest aggressively. Since our automated savings rate is over 5k a month right now, we allow ourselves to spend freely with the remainder of our monthly salaries and save any big payouts.
