How to respond to *current* salary inquiry?

I hear that. But even with researching salaries, these companies just low ball you anyway.

You can research and see that for position “A” it pays a range of X-Y.

You propose that - but so many companies also know that and want cheap labor and will offer even LESS! Hoping that after wearing you down with 3 interviews, etc. that you’ll just take the offer.

All of this can be avoided if companies be transparent about their pay.

I mean, there is a reason why companies are up in arms and threaten litigation, and get all bent out of shape if you share your salary.

By not posting salaries and threatening to fire anyone who shares salary information (illegal anyway), they really do low ball you and keep you there.

If it weren’t for strikes and unions and sharing salaries - we would all be doing labor jobs, 13 hours/day, no days off, under paid, no benefits, no days off.

Seems like it’s time to bring all this back since companies are making record profits by not sharing their company salary ranges.

It’s vile. Bc without the workers, there would be no company.

Companies should be grateful that workers work there. The mantra of telling employees they are lucky to be employed by them is brainwashing rhetoric from the 1900’s and it is fundamentally and morally asinine.
