IAMA Jehovah's Witness AMA!

See, I am so thrown back by that idea. I'll tell you my beliefs now.

I believe it is one's duty as a parent to put the greater interests of your children ahead of your own. If someone was to tell me that it was in my best interest to disown my child for their behavior, (because god forbid they are on their deathbed and require a blood transfusion), I would kindly tell them to go fuck themselves.

What is it about the religion that makes one lose their parental instincts? Fear of corporal punishment in the afterlife? Though, you already know you're most likely not going to go to Heaven, am I right? After death, you'll simply be destroyed or recycled into a new sheep. I thought Heaven was only reserved for the anointed few. So you would throw away your own child so maybe select Elder's could go to Heaven? Knowing that will most definitely never be you? You're absolutely, totally fine with considering yourself to be part of the "slave sheep class" for all eternity?

I'll tell you what, I'd rather be destroyed at the end of my days than ever turn my back away from my child just because some asshole told me so. To appease some narcissist in a suit having the nerve to judge my child. I would gladly give my life to spend every precious moment with my child. Not shun her away so that other followers of my self-serving religion don't judge me.

I also believe an organization that runs in the best interest of the whole is much more efficient. Though I understand that would go against the basic principles of your religion. Am I wrong in saying that your religion puts the greater interests of the few ahead of the whole? Conveniently enough, those "few" also happen to be the ones in charge. Though, I bet they're quick to call on the assistance of civil servants, when needed.

Am I wrong in saying that governing structure of JW seems alarmingly similar to that of a Totalitarianism or, dare I say, a Pyramid Scheme? "The more recruits, the greater the rewards!" Though, I understand that JW's are discouraged from involvement in government and politics. Conveniently.

Thank you for opening my eyes to your religion. It has further solidified my decision to never become a JW.

Lastly, how many brownie points are you gaining from the Elder's for using Reddit as a recruitment tool? Aren't you discouraged from associating with us "apostates" for any other purpose?
