I'm sorry guys, but I need your help. Why should I use Linux again? (serious)

You like Libre office more? Wrong Mere exposure bias

I used to say the same, then I went to uni and did the first 3 years exclusively in Libre Office, now I find Libre Offices interface and utilities much more intuitive and useful.

You want your mind changing? its about control.

I own quite a bit of equipment: A Bike, A Chest of draws, 4 various computer.

When I blow a tire, do I go crawling to the nearest bike shop begging for their overpriced sub par assistance? NO!

I own a tire lever, I own a puncture kit, and push comes to shove, a spare inner tube. I fix it.

When a draw falls out of my chest, do I bin it and buy a new one? NO!

I own screwdrivers and an assortment of screws and fixings, I rebuild it.

When my computer systems fail, do I have to jump through hoops and hoops, paying extortionate prices to a company that only really cares about me as a tool for income? Do I feel chained to use their half baked recovery tools and pray to the binary gods my data stays intact? Do I bow to their ultimate control over all users of the restricted, feature thin, insecure system they provide? NO!

I build my systems by hand, I know what software runs, I know how they operate, I know how to repair, recover, and control my systems.

This is why I run Linux, Its why I run Arch over Ubuntu or Debian.

I don't resent the people who get help for a punctured tire, who throw out a broken appliance, or who run a windows operating system. There are many things that I have neither the time nor the will to educate myself about. However, for me, as a computer scientist and technology buff, There is no question about which system I must run.

If you like windows, and are happy with the level of security, privacy, stability, customizability, and control it does, or does not offer you. Then go ahead. But know that the system you are using isn't yours, its Microsoft's, they decide how it works, and they decide how you can use it.
