It is probably also difficult for the guys too to be honest. I have been around many LDS people (am LDS technically but don’t go) and so much shame and guilt is put on anything to do with sex and porn/ masturbation. It is ingrained to be so from a young age and teens get asked about it and must confess and do some sessions (reading talks, scriptures) with the bishop to be rid of sin. You can’t take the sacrament or go to the temple during this time. So dread, shame and guilt become linked with it.

Most couples do get to know each other well and kiss before marriage and know what sex is physically so that is different but all of a sudden going from sex is a sin to sex being something virtuous can be traumatic. I actually know men who couldn’t have sex with their wives for 3 months and others who did but were overwhelmed and intern traumatized from shame and guilt.
