BCG PIPE middle east ---> London office. Can it ever work for a non European?

I'm starting next year at BCG Dubai full-time as an associate. I'm reluctant to take the offer because, well, it's middle east. The guy who did my first interview asked if I wanted to be on PIPE practice (since I previously worked with the same type of funds they work with), and I agreed. This guy was staffed in NYC for a while, apparently PIPE is a bit more extensive and growing fast. Being more finance-centric, I thought this position would give me best of both worlds. I'm just too frustrated I couldn't recruit at an office in Europe, where I'm studying, but it is what it is.

I thought it was a pretty bad idea to ask something about this during interviews. But is it possible? Can I make the shift after a couple of years?
