I used to run a setup the others mentioned above. However, got annoyed with how cluttered my desk looked with the laptop and my dedicated gaming build. (Huge watercooled tower)

It's not cost effective, but I got a big L shaped standing desk for more space. Now my rig sits on the main desktop while my work equipment sits on the side. I use wireless peripherals, and while I move the keyboard back and forth between the two setups, I have a dedicated ergonomic mouse for the work set up.

So the only thing I have to do is plug in the keyboard when I work and when I unplug the keyboard for gaming my towers wireless reciever automatically picks the keyboard up. The added benefit is that the keyboard charges while I work.

Also utilize a seperate wide-screen curved monitor for work so I never have to unplug the work computer. Makes everything simple.
