Isn't it time we can just flat out say the Bible is incorrect; wrong? We have enough knowledge now to just say it's a myth just like we say Zeus is a myth and nobody gets offended.

This is going to be quite a long post. :o

I can totally agree, the bible pretty much scientifically and logically contradicts itself from the start, some may debate or disagree with me but that's how I currently feel. My question is how did God in Genesis create night and day before he created the sun and moon? I also agree that it's not the best moral guide with its mention of murder, genocide, slavery etc, lots of people who support their religion may cherry pick some quotes to paint their God and Jesus to be all-loving as they believe but then they have to acknowledge the negative aspects of the bible and that aspects of it have outgrown this day and age.

I mean look around you, the bible lacks tolerance towards those of a different sexuality outside heterosexuality as do fundamentalists and bigoted groups but each year we have gay pride to celebrate and embrace each other's differences and lets be honest it opens people's minds and brings them together, allowing other people from different backgrounds with different lifestyles to feel included within society.

It says in Leviticus somewhere that you shouldn't mix fabrics but let's face it, how many of us even care and actually follow this rule? Apparently women shouldn't speak in church until they get home to discuss the service with their husbands if they have any opinions or questions, women today will talk regardless because they deserve respect and equality as they can be just as capable as their opposing gender.

I haven't fully read the bible, I really didn't need to begin to disagree with it. I started on Genesis and decided it didn't correspond to my beliefs and I was done and began to read the Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey instead XD but the thing is neither have most Christians, Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses etc. I've heard about atheists who were Ex Christian fundamentalists for example or attended church for 10+ years, they can make the argument of having read the bible front to back or even other religious books, so they must have a legit reason behind their decision.

I think that some people still classify the bible as the 'Good Book' because there are people out there who have been raised to have more of a positive perspective on their religion than to see its bad points. For me personally religions try to teach peace but not many can ACHEIVE peace, why?

  • Division = The world consists of different sects and conflicting ideas, the way the world began will probably always be debated.

-Radicalization = Terrorists, Fundamentalists and Extremist groups. their attachment to their beliefs is unwavering. Pretty scary that groups such as ISIS for example attack innocent people supposedly in the name of their religion. The more liberal Muslims actually dislike what they are doing.

  • Traditions = Some traditions are amazing to learn about and it's something that makes each culture unique but what I disagree with are those who pick their religion and their traditions over the well being of those close to them, such as forcing your own flesh and blood into an arranged marriage with somebody they don't love or those strict religious families where there are people afraid to come out of the closet or to have their own personal opposing beliefs because they may be criticized harshly for it.

Some people hold on to their faith because it's really all they have and it's a foundation or something to fall back on. I suppose there are people out there who might find the idea of 'heaven' appealing and place their faith in the fact that there is life after death because they want to look for more substance than simply decomposing and ceasing to exist.

For me, if there was an after life, I wouldn't want it to be judgement towards heaven or hell, neither appeal to me. I would personally prefer to reincarnate as one of my favorite animals or another human.

There are also people who were raised in certain religions so either have a strong passion within their religion or find it hard to view what they've grown up with from a negative perspective. That's just my opinion on it. :)
