JD-MBA programs? Why both?

From your flair I see you're in a dual. Long shot, but any chance you're at NU?

You're essentially asking whether a strong understanding of business is important for corporate law.

Actually, I think my question is more concerned with sufficiency. Yeah, intuitively speaking, an M7 MBA would absolutely be great for corporate law, but is an M7 MBA/t14 JD necessary or sufficient for a top GC position? Sorry, LSAT is still fresh, haha. My understanding is that most general counsel positions are filled out of large law firms. Maybe that isn't true?

M7 MBA is probably sufficient for consulting/ib, a JD isn't necessary. So the dual isn't really value add there.

T14 JD is sufficient for big law (assuming you're not bottom of your class). After you put your time in at a large law firm, then you can exit into a GC type position. So the MBA isn't really necessary and thus the dual isn't really value add there, either.

I'm really interested in comparing the employment prospects of the JD-MBA class against just those pursuing JD's or MBA's. I mean, it looks like this guy networked his way into a VC position, but that's not really something I'm interested in.

It's also really interesting to me that JD-MBA applicants don't need an LSAT score to apply. I wonder if the converse is true; if you can apply with an LSAT but not a GMAT.
