June 1st Protest and Riot Discussion and Update thread

This 100%. I'm a pretty liberal white guy. I'm not super political, but definitely more politically active than your average person. I was a Bernie supporter in 2016 and 2020 (but not a die-hard "Bernie Bro"). I'm not Biden's biggest fan, but I'm not crying about him being the nominee. I hate Trump. I have been outraged about racism for as long as I have understood what racism really mean (the lightbulb clicked for me in high school, about 20 years ago).

BUT I live in DTLA (I own a condo, my first owned property) and I am so sick of the violence and looting that have come from these protests and are DESTROYING my neighborhood (and now the entire city). I feel guilty expressing these feelings because many people are pushing this narrative that the violence is forgivable / excusable / necessary. Even Trevor Noah's viral talk, while I agree with most of it, I'm thinking "easy for you to say when it's not your neighborhood being destroyed". It's so conflicting. The violence is so fucking terrible. I'm glad I'm not alone in this feeling though.
