Let me give you an example... in Arizona, where I live, the protesters decided it would be a smart idea to all pour into the streets and block traffic to protest. Guess what, people that were on the fence before or maybe lacked an opinion immediately made up their mind to not be on the side of the idiots blocking traffic. It just pissed off the residents here because they felt their message was self-righteous and they needed to insert themselves in other's lives. It made people not want to join their cause. It made people want to not be a part of anything they were and pushed more people away from listening to them than anything. It had literally the opposite effect they wanted.

Protesters can be really annoying at times regardless of how you believe. There are people that don't like Trump that also think the protesters are a bunch of whiny and annoying people and it pushes them away. Imagine having to deal with obstructive, whiny, and annoyingly invasive protesters all the time. You are going to have the opposite effect that you want. You are going to get people to hate you and whatever cause you are fighting for because you inserted your annoyance into other people's lives rather than just delivered your message. People are going to get tired of it. More people than ever are going to show up and vote for Trump as a big "F YOU" to the annoying people.
