Just a little mindfulness can ease pain and negativity

I’m currently in an adolescent development class and unfortunately you are right about men taking longer to develop emotion regulation on average in North America. In our class, we talked about a few different things that might contribute to it but the most prominent seems to be gender roles. We socialize young women to behave, to make “smart decisions”, to put other relationships before themselves in North America. Whereas, boys are socialized to try as many identities as possible and aren’t always taught things like emotion regulation. This seems to have led to them developing slower in every way; girls tend to finish growing physically before boys do now. However, this is all just class discussion, there is recent research being done here, but it’s difficult to know what’s causing it.
