I just played the 1996 Resident Evil game...and its just...

I always thought the REmajevwas as serious a game as they come, even as a Resident Evil title.

I compare the opening scene of the original to the Remake. The original was just so ebntertaining to me. I could tell it was a 90's game. I mean, the acting was just...it wasn't good at all, but damn it, I was having fun, and everybody was right wgen they said it's corny but charming because it's just so hilarious to me.

But the one in REmake was a lot darker to me. I didn't laugh at all, I noticed that. I was engaged, and actually scared because...it took itself a lot more seriously, which helps because this supposed to be a horror game, not a comedy. Like when the dogs attack that guy with the red hat in first person and he's screaming with blood dripping down the camera view? When the dogs turn around and you see their fucked up faces? When Jill runs out of ammo, and she's like "O_O What the fuck? Shit, it's coming at me!!" I was actually yelling at them to run like hell to that mansion. The improved dialouge was especially a plus.

REmake did a fantastic job at getting me to actually feel the fear and care about the characters without laughing my ass off, which is distracting. I can't say there weren't a few corny moments, but it was lot less than the original, and that's fine by me. It set the standard for me when it came to the tone. I respect your thoughts, though.
