Keeping children in 'cages' costs American taxpayers more than $4.5 million daily

How better to keep us all afraid despite steadily falling crime rates than to raise the specter of random horrible acts committed by people who aren't even supposed to be here!!

That is a dangerously flawed and naive (partisan) view of reality.

I've lived cross multiple continents, born and raised in another highly-developed country. I'm old-school and actually watch our local news. Almost every single night, there will be stories of shots fired and x killed (often multiple) in every single American city I visit.

That is not normal. In a city of 6 million back home, we barely had a single murder every 35 days.

You imply that all is good because of falling crime rates. Yet, over 17,000 people were killed in America just last year. In fact, America's murder rates per capita is many times higher than any other developed country and actually higher than both India and China combined.

More cops are killed in America than actual people in countries like Canada + Australia + New Zealand + The UK.

I blame social media for this though. Local news stories no longer make the cut. For most millennials and Gen Zers, /r/politics /r/news is your got-to news source. Therefore, you are not exposed to what is actually and really going on in your cities.

It's why you assume that the worst thing going on in America today is immigration centers and AA being shot by police. Not the AA 25+ shot in one weekend alone, in one city alone.
