Let's talk about some of the ace discourse

This is definitely going to be an unpopular opinion, please don't attack me. I think there can be some spaces that include asexuals along with LGBT people, and we can benefit from supporting each other. However, I don't consider cishet aces LGBT, and I think if some LGBT people are uncomfortable with cis straight people in their safe spaces, that should be respected. The truth is, while cishet asexuals are discriminated against, they don't face the oppression that LGBT people face. They don't lose jobs, housing, get denied healthcare, and they were never denied the right to marry. They aren't frequently the victims of hate crimes. The LGBT movement was built on fighting the oppression we face, and cishet asexuals do not have that in common with us. I also don't consider cishet aces queer because queer is a slur that should only be reclaimed by LGBT people. I don't like people re-defining a slur to mean "different" or "weird."

Also, a lot of the cishet aces on Tumblr who insist that they belong in LGBT spaces and can reclaim queer are homophobic. They call us "weird allosexuals," talk shit about how the gay community is "filled with STD's," one said they were glad that gay people died in Orlando because it meant less acephobes in the world. They deny that they are straight, which invalidates asexual LGBT people, because if you think you can't be straight and asexual you must also think you can't be gay/bi and asexual. I'm not making this shit up, I can provide links that have receipts if anyone wants them. But anyway, I have no problem with asexual people as a whole, I know they aren't all like the ones on tumblr, but I don't want the homophobic ones in my community or safe spaces. They make those spaces unsafe.
