I think it's because I'm so use to The Armorer being almost priest like, I forget she likely is the same age as Bo and was probably not even that long in her role when Mandalor fell either. They make more sense as a pairing on that stance alone, as I think Din is only in his late 20s to early 30s.

The scenes with them did seem highly charged in hindsight because of that. It explains why she was probably so welcoming of Bo in the beginning, and gave such preferential treatment, having another person who remembered the Purge and everything before the Purge was probably comforting after years of upholding what few traditions left under the Empire, for whatever other faults Bo Katan may have as a leader and former heir.
