Do liberals/ conservatives ever wonder "hey what if the other side is actually right?"

Right around the time Trump became popular, before he won the American Presidential Election, I spent weeks researching and talking to conservatives, from various states. I did learn a lot, but not a lot of it was positive. There were a few reasons and rationales that felt based in logic, but most of it was racism and intolerance, with a lot of "fuck the other side" energy. It actually made me considerably less tolerant of conservatives in my country, and then when Covid hit, the political divide of who was logical and kind versus....just purposely mean, really didn't leave a lot of room for discussion about the conservative ability for circumspection in my country.
