[Long Post] Former Investor Relations Professional who Went to Grad School, Have I Derailed my Career?

Hi there. While you're right that there is a Career Service office, I've been sorely disappointed them, and since graduation I've been having trouble garnering their support and advice. All through my Graduate career they certainly helped me tweak my resume and my applications, but evidently since I'm still unemployed I can't help but feel everything they told me to do is incorrect. I also think that for historic reasons, the Federal Government absorbed a lot of graduates from my program, and since Federal hiring has really slowed down (in addition to cuts to organizations like the World Bank and IMF), they're hard-pressed to place people.

Us students were taken us to meet companies, and events were organized with alumni. But I think these meetings were too few and far between, and few of these meetings ended with concrete jobs we could apply to.
