I’m So Frustrated With My Wife Over Elementary School Choice

Again, this isn't aimed at you specifically. Maybe you were as positive as you could have been in your life I have no idea. This likely isn't directed specifically at you. There are the elites of the boomer generation and a lot of people in the generation who have consistently voted down taxes and never given a second thought about the environment or the future.

When we get to the high level generalizations of talking about an entire generation, or rather the impact and legacy of that time I don't think anything I've said is that unfair. We can put some of the blame on Gen X too if it makes you feel better. However the Boomer's have been in power and one of the most influential generations due to the demographics. More importantly boomers continue to have influence and will for the next decade or more.

Now, as the bulk of the millennials are now entering the workforce, having kids, and otherwise taking on the proverbial mantle if being an "adult" many of us realize what a cluster lies in front of us. What's worse is those who entered the work force just as the global economy collapsed. It was a horrible time for everyone but then asked why they haven't achieved more or are struggling financially. Being blamed for the failures of others isn't fun.

The last 50 years of this country has been extremely selfish for short term benefits and all but ignored the long term consequences. See: college, climate change, national debt, social security, Medicare, healthcare, housing, and any other major life cost I forget.

To fix just one of those problems will take a lot of effort and probably sacrifice. When it's now on the upcoming generation to fix all of them it's more than overwhelming, it's terrifying. Personally, I don't want my child to have the same struggles that I have went through to achieve success. I don't want him to worry that the planet might not exist as we know it by the time he's ready to have kids. To make that a reality will take an enormous effort collectively. I'm a hopeful skeptic...

So, when the media for, I'd say the last decade, blames all of the counties ills on millennials and says they are such lazy, self entitled, avocado eating, snowflakes it's frustrating. Creates further resentment when a lot of the problems have been inherited from the group still in power (i.e. the boomers). I'm sure there's plenty of wrong that this generation will do but so far we really haven't even had the chance to screw up yet and are already being blamed for our grandparents and parents failures.
