I’m scared my life will end when school ends and I would have to work for the rest of my life, what can I do about this irrational fear?

Hi!

It is very normal to wish to always pursue your dreams and goals - it sounds like your education is one of them and an avenue for you to express your ambition.

I think when you come to the end of school (6 years yet!) you may have found a different mindset, and you may be surprised at the ways in which a career you are passionate about can offer challenges for growth and learning. There will still be goals to pursue, like promotions or coming up with new ways to approach the job. I can relate very well to your worry, I absolutely love education and the comforting stability and constant sense of purpose it can bring. I was quite paralysed by the idea of not being at school and the fear of being stuck in something unfulfilling. In recognising that fear I decided to make that a goal too, to overcome it and find purpose and meaning in other areas of life I value. You may look at building a sense of meaning in other ways too, such as with friends, family or other hobbies. This may help you to feel more content that you are enriching yourself in other ways that will last beyond your time in education.

You will always find roads for progress and education is one (an important one to you!) but it does not have to be the last and final one.
