I’m thinking of buying a Switch but I want Switch owners’ pros and cons on the device.

You'll get loads of pros. Here are the cons in my opinion:

Quality issues

It's not ubiquitous, but I've read a number of stories about 'drift' in the joycons (where they register a direction even when the stick is central) and warping of the main unit back case from overheating. I've thankfully not yet suffered from these issues but my left joycon wiggles a little in its rail: a tolerance issue that should really have been sorted by the time I bought my unit a year after initial release.

Game Prices

Quite a number of games coming to Switch are more expensive than the same game on other platforms. This is understandable if it's a new release on Switch but an older release on the other platform as games are always more expensive at time of release. But there are cases where the Switch price is higher than the initial release price for those other platforms. This is often explained away by the higher manufacturing costs of cartridges versus optical media.

Many games are considerably more expensive digitally than on physical media. In doesn't make immediate sense as there is higher profit margin on digital media as there's no need to manufacture anything. It's a little more understandable when you think about Nintendo not wanting to undermine retailers' profits, and even more sense when you realise retailers need to discount cartridges to clear inventory that's not selling particularly well. But it's still very frustrating to see physical prices lower than digital.

Refund Policy

Nintendo has a very restrictive and, in some cases, illegal refunds policy. They claim they offer no refunds but in practice I've read that each owner is eligible to a single refund (ever). I've not read any successfully receiving a second or third refund.

Online Offering

Nintendo took their jolly time launching their online offering. And what they appear to be releasing is much smaller is cope compared to their competitors, with no voice chat in games and lobbies, &c. However it's also considerably more affordable and includes cloud saves.

Cloud Saves

Nintendo, for the first two years of the console's release, offered no way to back up game saves. Considering people spend upwards of 40 hours in some games, this has lead to considerable annoyance for users who have lost their units or had to return them for repair. Apparently this was to reduce attack vectors for copyright infringement, but has caused a lot of annoyance for those who lost their games.

As mentioned above, the online offering will finally include the ability to cloud save your save-games.
