The main sub of popular Youtuber Contrapoints bans the use of the word "truscum" after she used a highly controversial figure for a voice over in her latest video. The community is less than pleased about this.

I apologize for the wall of text, my tl;dr is pretty much my point.

I also wanna include this because it kind of just reinforces my point in the way he talks about this stuff.

Keep in mind this is just info I've received from listening to trans people online and trans friends. I could be completely wrong, but this is the impression I get when I read those tweets.

Truscum as I understand it is believing you need to have dysphoria to be transgender. It doesn't seem like he's directly saying that, but it seems like he's making a similar distinction himself and transgender people with gender dysphoria and fully transitioning.

If I remember correctly, transgender was brought into popular use compared to transsexual because the idea is that with transsexual the implication is that fully transitioning is the ultimate goal for ever trans person, which it is not. So, while transgender and transsexual are different things, a transsexual person falls under the umbrella of transgender.

However, He's saying he's one and not the other. On top of saying that transgender is exclusively for people that don't have dysphoria, which is just incorrect. And I have to wonder if he knows what transgender actually means. In any case, he's making a gate between transsexual and transgender, saying they're totally different things, and putting himself on the transsexual side, which also happens to be the side where he defines himself as male.

"I had a sexchange. I live in the binary and use testosterone and surgery to masculinize my body. I am male not trans." It's pretty easy to see those dots in reverse.

He can say it's his truth all he wants, but redefining words like this, and even feeling the need to say things like this reveals a lot about how you think of other people.

I personally don't think that's enough to think he's a gigantic piece of shit, it honestly seems like he doesn't understand what transgender is, but still doesn't really have a very high opinion of people without dysphoria. Are you truscum if you think you can be trans without dysphoria but you very obviously have a low opinion of them and regularly distance yourself? I don't know, I don't define words.

I also don't have to constantly having to try to validate my existence to society only to have a famous person who is also trans start arbitrarily setting up walls and give ammunition to genuinely malicious transphobic assholes. So I can understand the anger a bit.

tl;dr Why does he feel the need to make sure people know he's living completely within the binary, completely transitioned with surgery and hormones, a transsexual, and also a male and NOT transgender? Does the "why" really matter if he's helping to give political ammunition to people wanting to sway public opinion against trans people?
