The CONSAD study is the largest study on record regarding the pay gap, conducted at the behest and oversight of the US Department of Labor. Allow me to quote from it for you:

Although additional research in this area is clearly needed, this study leads to the unambiguous conclusion that the differences in the compensation of men and women are the result of a multitude of factors and that the raw wage gap should not be used as the basis to justify corrective action. Indeed, there may be nothing to correct. The differences in raw wages may be almost entirely the result of the individual choices being made by both male and female workers.

Do you understand what that is saying? After accounting for all variables there is a very small gap between men and women, but that gap cannot be attributed to discrimination. It is due to the individual choices made by men and women. Women choose to be nurses, men engineers.

Is it due to social pressures? Maybe, but that's not workplace discrimination. Inequality =/= discrimination.
